3. Main strategy
3.1 Creating a favorable environment for business to be able to compete internationally
(a) To make foreign trade competitive with the world economy, the government should act as a guide, protector, regulator and catalyst. Making the private sector an active participant in business operations.
(b) To reduce business costs by bringing ease in export and import through simplification, facilitation and institutional strengthening in the business process.
(c) To develop and improve the policy, institutional and physical structure related to goods and services trade.
(d) To increase the access of Nepali products to the international market by protecting intellectual property rights.
(e) Assisting in trade promotion by identifying and selecting items of comparative advantage based on skills, means and resources available in the country.
3.2 3.2 Reducing trade deficit by increasing exports
(a) Simplifying the import process of raw materials, industrial machinery etc. required by export industries and providing incentives.
(b) To expand the international market of goods produced in Nepal by utilizing the opportunities created by bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements.
(c) Establishment and expansion of special economic zones to promote exports by attracting domestic and foreign investment.
(a) Emphasis on the development of employable skills and entrepreneurship related to the commercial sector, increasing employment in marginalized groups and disadvantaged communities and making business development inclusive.
(B) Emphasis on the development and promotion of industrial villages, special areas to bring the export goods produced using traditional skills, arts and skills to the market.
(c) Emphasis on increasing income and employment opportunities by promoting service trade.
3.4 Establishing interconnection between internal trade and foreign trade
(a) To create an environment where part of the goods or services produced by the exportable industries are consumed within the country.
(b) Encouraging the expansion and export of goods or services produced for domestic consumption.
